Bullards Beach State Park is near Bandon, Oregon and across from Bandon Marsh National Wildlife Refuge. They have a trail and road that follow along the Coquille River out to the lighthouse. While walking on this trail with Jake I saw an unusual piece of wood floating down the river. When walking back to camp saw that the wood was actually a loon. It must have been sleeping with just the dots on its back showing.
Also enjoyed watching cormorants dive for fish on the river. They can stay under water a long time. Counted to 25 slowly waiting for one to come up for air. This was the first time a cormorant came to my attention. Afterwards, noticed they were all over the Oregon and California coast.

Osprey have been using a nest on the bridge that goes across the river for a long time. Happened to be there to take a picture just as one took off from the nest.
